• Strengthening Policy Exchange on Sports and Wellness Tourism among Member Cities
  • Around 170 participants from 15 cities and the tourism industry joined workshops, TEP, and G2B sessions

The Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO), with Busan Metropolitan City as its President City, held the 2026 TPO Vietnam Regional Meeting from 14 to 15 April 2026 at the Melia Vinpearl Tay Ninh Hotel in Viet Nam, strengthening policy cooperation among member cities and fostering practical tourism business linkages.

The meeting was held under the theme “Trends in Sports Tourism and Wellness Tourism Based on the Unique Advantages of Each Locality,” focusing on both policy exchange and industry collaboration.

The event brought together approximately 170 participants, including representatives from fifteen cities and provinces—Vietnamese cities and provinces such as Tay Ninh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, An Giang, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Phu Quoc, Quang Tri, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Lon, as well as Gimhae and Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) — alongside representatives from tourism-related organizations, universities, and private sector stakeholders, such as Vietnam Airlines, Saigontourist Group, Hoan Cau Long An golf&villas, SunGroup,…

The TPO Regional Meeting serves as an official platform for working-level discussions, enabling member cities to share policy directions, explore joint projects, and align on key cooperation initiatives.

Workshop Advanced Policy Exchange on Sports and Wellness Tourism

A central component of the meeting, the workshop adopted a participatory format combining city presentations, expert commentary, and discussions between public and private stakeholders.

The program featured:
▲ A keynote presentation on global trends and policy cases in sports and wellness tourism
▲ Presentations by member cities on tourism policies and initiatives
▲ Industry case studies and market insights
▲ A panel discussion on city–industry cooperation

Member cities presented their policy priorities based on local strengths such as natural environments, sports infrastructure, and traditional wellness resources. Industry representatives shared market insights and collaboration models, while experts provided analytical feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.

The workshop facilitated structured knowledge exchange and helped identify practical directions for strengthening urban tourism competitiveness.

TEP and G2B Sessions Expanded Practical Cooperation Opportunities

In conjunction with the Regional Meeting, TPO launched the Tourism Exchange and Partnership Program (TEP) alongside G2B consultations, marking its first implementation as a practical cooperation platform.

TEP was designed to move beyond dialogue-based exchanges and support concrete collaboration among cities, tourism-related organizations, and private sector stakeholders.

Through pre-arranged G2B and B2B meetings, participating cities and companies discussed cooperation opportunities in areas such as tourism product development, visitor generation, incentive schemes, and joint promotions, with several cooperation prospects further elaborated.

Cities and companies also presented key tourism assets, new products, and incentive policies, identifying opportunities for expanding into the global tourism market.

TEP will continue to be implemented in conjunction with upcoming TPO events, including the 10th TPO Forum in Taichung this September, as one of TPO’s flagship cooperation programs.

Technical Tour Highlighted Tay Ninh’s Tourism Potential

Participants also took part in a technical tour to experience Tay Ninh’s key tourism attractions.

The program included visits to Ba Den Mountain, Cao Dai Holy See, My Quynh Safari Park, and Chavi Garden, along with a golf networking program.

The tour provided participants with first-hand insights into local tourism resources and infrastructure, while exploring opportunities for tourism product development and business cooperation.

Kang Da-eun, Secretary-General of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO), stated, “As the first regional meeting of 2026, the introduction of a workshop reflecting local characteristics was intended to enhance substantive policy exchange among member cities. The meeting also brought together cities and tourism businesses from Viet Nam and beyond, expanding opportunities for collaboration across diverse stakeholders.”
