” Five member cities join forces at COEX to connect with Korean travelers and the global tourism industry”

The Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) successfully carried out joint tourism marketing activities with its member cities at the 41st Seoul International Travel Fair, held from June 4 to 7 at COEX in Seoul.

Five TPO member cities participated this year — Busan Metropolitan City, Gimhae City, and Andong City from Korea, alongside Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and Hue in Vietnam. TPO supported the cities through a joint promotional booth and a destination briefing session, providing a platform to showcase their tourism assets and build networks with industry stakeholders.

TPO selected the Seoul International Travel Fair as this year’s joint marketing platform in response to growing interest among its member cities in the Korean outbound market. As one of Asia’s most active sources of outbound travelers, Korea offered a prime opportunity for member cities to introduce their city brands and tourism content directly to Korean travelers and trade professionals.

The Seoul International Travel Fair is one of Korea’s flagship international tourism exhibitions, drawing tourism organizations, local governments, and industry representatives from around the world to exchange trends and explore business opportunities. TPO’s joint participation model reinforced its role as a cross-border cooperative marketing platform for global cities.

At the joint promotional booth, participating cities presented their signature festivals, cultural programs, experiential content, and key tourism policies. City representatives engaged directly with domestic and international buyers, trade professionals, and general visitors — building connections and exploring opportunities for future tourism exchange.

The destination briefing session went further, giving each city space to highlight its distinctive resources, policy directions, and newly developed offerings. Beyond individual promotion, the session reaffirmed the potential for linked itineraries and joint marketing across TPO member cities.

“The Seoul International Travel Fair gave our member cities a powerful platform to reach Korean travelers and global industry partners while forging practical cooperation with tourism stakeholders,” said Kang Daeun, Secretary General of TPO.

“We will keep expanding joint marketing opportunities and deepening the tourism competitiveness of our cities worldwide.”
