The Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) announced the successful completion of the “Korean Media Familiarization Tour in Connection with the 10th TPO Forum,” held in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, from June 15 to 18, 2026.

The familiarization tour was organized ahead of the 10th TPO Forum, which will be held in Taichung this September, to introduce the host city’s tourism competitiveness, key tourism offerings, and capacity to host international events to Korean media. During the tour, representatives from major Korean daily newspapers and travel trade media visited Taichung’s key tourism attractions and policy sites, covering the city’s local tourism content and urban tourism strategies.

Amid growing tourism exchanges between Korea and Chinese Taipei, the tour is expected to serve as an opportunity to promote Taichung’s diverse tourism resources to the Korean market. Under the vision of “Happy Taichung, Sustainable Destination,” Taichung has been advancing sustainable tourism policies. In 2024, it became the first local government in Chinese Taipei to be selected for the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories, gaining international recognition for its excellence in sustainable tourism.

Participants visited Taichung’s major tourism sites, including the Cycling Culture Museum, Taichung Aquarium, Taichung Green Museumbrary, and Fengjia Night Market. They also explored how local agriculture, traditional industries, cultural spaces, and culinary heritage are integrated into Taichung’s tourism offerings, covering the city’s direction for tourism development.

In addition, participants visited The Lin Hotel, the venue for the 10th TPO Forum, to review the event facilities and key operational plans. During a briefing session with representatives from the Taichung City Government and the TPO Secretariat, the preparation status and major programs of the Forum were shared, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of the key agenda and operational direction of the upcoming event in September.

The 10th TPO Forum will be held from September 16 to 18, 2026, at The Lin Hotel in Taichung. Under the theme “Sustainable Tourism City: Smart Tourism and Shared Value,” the Forum will bring together TPO member cities, tourism-related organizations, and industry experts to discuss sustainable tourism policies, smart tourism, and the future development of the MICE industry.

“This familiarization tour served as a meaningful opportunity to introduce the tourism competitiveness and key tourism content of Taichung, the host city of the 10th TPO Forum, to Korean media,” said Kang Da-eun, Secretary-General of TPO. “As travel demand between Korea and Chinese Taipei continues to grow, we hope this tour will contribute to promoting Taichung’s urban tourism appeal in the Korean market.”

“TPO will continue to work closely with Taichung City to ensure that the 10th TPO Forum in September serves as a significant international tourism event for discussing sustainable tourism cooperation among global tourism cities and the future direction of smart tourism,” she added. “We look forward to strong interest and participation from member cities and tourism stakeholders.”
